This workshop is about letting go and allowing your inner child to explore. It’s about going within and letting your hands bring out what is wandering around in your heart. Art is an immersive form of self expression that often serves as a tool to mirror the ocean inside each of us. Few things are as daunting as a perfectly untouched canvas, full of possibilities - much like life itself.
But just like life, you need to get stuck in, get involved, get your hands dirty and simply go for it.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Celest will take you through a brief history of a well known design, that many love and many write off as a fashion fad from a time gone by.
You are going to be drawing, painting and sketching paisley designs, and proceed with caution, because this practice is down right addictive once you get stuck in.
We will briefly cover:
- The history of paisley
- Meditation through movement
- Colour Therapy
Celest will demonstrate a couple of basic paisley designs, including the teardrop, flower motifs and ornate twirls and swirls, as well as a more modern take on paisley, including the use of more modern colour palettes, and the incorporation of faces, bodies and other motifs from modern life.Included will be notes and links that you can check out in your own time if it piques your interest.Together, we will be translating your ideas onto paper in black and white to prepare us for the full colour experience.
Once Celest has helped you with your color palette choices and helped you figure out a direction that feels good, we turn up the music, take that stark canvas landscape and get some magic going. When it gets down to putting paint to paper, follow your heart and as in yoga practice, you know your boundaries and you are your best guardian - If you feel that after 10 minutes that you’ve had enough, that is fine, honour that. If after an hour of working, you feel like you could paint for 10 more hours, that is fantastic too. This short introduction should be enough to equip you the tools and to go sit down whenever your mind gets too busy, and draw it all out until you feel the calm settling in your hands once again.
The artist in me, honours the artist in you - Namaste Picasso!
